Artist Statement

In my art installation work I explore traditional and non-traditional ways of bringing art and ideas into the public sphere. In addition to gallery shows, I have designed and constructed portable art display systems and organized public installations of artwork. It’s been a very rewarding journey which allowed me to vend my body of works in various cities around the world, including a successful art tour with paintings across eastern Canada. I am continually pushing for imaginative ways of reaching and engaging people with art that at its core is intended to trigger discussion and critical thought.

This is an exciting contemporary field of art where I can bring together multiple aspects of my practice in order to get across ideas and themes I am interested in. Over the years I worked on projects ranging from spontaneous contractions to well thought out and planned out projects. Working for MCM 2001 Inc, I began learning about furniture design and execution while gaining experience in different fabrication processes. I worked on projects that built different types of display units for art museums and commercial businesses. I have also studied drafting and blueprint reading which helped me a lot with designing and building custom display solutions in my art installation work.

I believe that art has a place in all aspects of life and can be modeled to fit any type of space. It’s very presence can enrich an environment, stimulate social activity, spark creative thought and bring life to an otherwise vacant space. In my ongoing artistic development I am continually expending my knowledge of mediums, working process, tools, design solutions etc, which I then incorporate successfully in my art installation work.
